Entrepreneurship is a way of thinking, an approach to problems, an attribute of mind, and even a trait of character. It is a science and an art; entrepreneurship is a primary way in which a free society grows and improves not only its economy, but its cultural and social life as well. Entrepreneurship is a social creation process. In relations and interactions possibilities are created out of occasions, and out of possibilities new actualities see the light of day. Entrepreneurship is recognized as the engine of the economy. It creates jobs, new products, new process, wealth and income.
Entrepreneurship demands creative deployment of scarce resources; for example, free publicity instead of paid advertising, or hiring interns instead of experienced marketers. Students who opt to take this module are encouraged also to take Managing the Entrepreneurial Venture II, as the two modules offer a thorough introduction to key business fundamentals for entrepreneurial success.
Students will be expected to submit questions for the guest speakersin advance of the classes they will participate in. The guests will be entrepreneurs — founders and leaders of business and non-business enterprises and backers and investors in those enterprises.
