Business information

Business information is increased through social media. Without these networks and these tools, clientele will be sold short on what is effective web strategy based on leading edge technologies. Business information is commonly held or received in a variety of incompatible formats. This often hampers strategic activities including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations or the creation of new information supply chains driven by new business initiatives. Business information is often numbers and statistics. The quantitative methods course enables you to make good decisions and to organise and understand numbers.

Business information is an essential ingredient in business decisions. BIIA members serve businesses with accurate, reliable and timely information in a wide range of decision processes starting with strategic analysis, profiling and prospecting of potential customers, demand forecasting, sales assignments, credit information, decision systems and scoring, monitoring, and receivable management services.

Data on employee size, sales volume, key executives, lines of business, and credit codes may be available on the Web from these services, but only for those willing to pay. The free services basically offer address, phone numbers, and yellow page category information. Data acquisition from many different network elements, and large volumes of information, are just two of the problems. Scalable applications are critical. Data warehousing can be used to empower knowledge workers with information that allows them to make decisions based on a solid foundation of fact. However, oftentimes only a fraction of the needed information exists on computers; the vast majority of a firm’s intellectual assets exist as knowledge in the minds of its employees.
